With Broward County Public Schools starting in-person classes, Broward Health, Memorial Healthcare System, and Community Care Plan are pleased to announce that they will be holding their  2nd Annual Vaccinate Broward initiative to help ensure children in Broward County are fully vaccinated. The Vaccinate Broward event will provide free vaccinations to Broward County children and young adults, ages 4 to 20, on Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  To adapt to COVID-19 precautions, Memorial Healthcare System will offer drive-up service at Memorial Primary Care in Hollywood, Florida. To protect patients, families and caregivers, each vaccination site has put additional safety measures in place, following CDC recommendations for COVID-19. Youth and parents must wear masks during the vaccination visits, and visitors will be socially distanced.

“Broward Health is proud to once again provide free vaccinations during Vaccinate Broward,” said Alan Goldsmith, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Broward Health. “With the numerous safety measures in place in our hospitals and clinics, families can feel comfortable seeking preventive care for their children as they return to school.”

Vaccinations are one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children, and teens from 16 harmful diseases. Vaccine-preventable diseases can be serious, may require hospitalization, and can be deadly – particularly in young children. It is important that parents ensure their children are up to date on their vaccinations, particularly as the new school year begins.

To expedite the check-in process, parents and guardians are encouraged to register their child at VaccinateBroward.com. To receive necessary vaccines, a parent or guardian must accompany all children under the age of 18 and bring the child’s immunization records and a valid form of identification. Additional details can be found on the Vaccinate Broward website.

Care Plan (CCP), the health plan with a heart, is pleased to announce that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has increased the accreditation status for CCP's Medicaid Plan from Accredited to Commendable. CCP’s original Accredited status was awarded to CCP in December 2018 and the status increase is a result of NCQA’s annual review of Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) data for 2019.

The NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators, and consumers can use to assess health plans. NCQA Health Plan Accreditation evaluates the quality of health care that health plans provide to their members. NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a voluntary review process and evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system – physicians, hospitals, other providers, and administrative services in order to continuously improve the quality of care and services provided to its members.

According to the NCQA website, “HEDIS is a tool used by over 90% of America's health plans to measure performance on care and services”, and “is also the most widely used performance improvement tool in health care”.

“To have our Accreditation status increased to Commendable by NCQA for our Medicaid Plan within our first year of becoming accredited is truly exciting,” said Jessica Lerner, Community Care Plan’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Community Care Plan takes great pride in providing the highest quality of care and service to our members, and we are delighted that our HEDIS scores were recognized by NCQA and reflected in our new accreditation status.”

“Achieving an Accreditation status of Commendable from NCQA is sign that a health plan is serious about quality. It is awarded to plans whose service and clinical quality meet or exceed NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, NCQA’s President.

For the last set of HEDIS scores, which included increased benchmark levels, CCP increased its scores to the 90th percentile in the following categories:

“Childhood immunizations are important to protect children, young adults and our entire community from preventable diseases,” said Gino Santorio, President/CEO of Broward Health. “Broward Health is proud to partner with Memorial Healthcare System and Community Care Plan to ensure our community is educated on the benefits of vaccination and provided with greater access to care.”

“Some diseases may spread quickly and easily from person to person, and immunizations are a way to protect ourselves and the community,” added Aurelio Fernandez III, President and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System. “We are pleased to collaborate in a program that will provide valuable information and benefit the overall health of our community.”

Vaccinations are one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children, and teens from 16 harmful diseases. Vaccine-preventable diseases can be serious, may require hospitalization, and can be deadly – particularly in young children. It is important that parents ensure their children are up to date on their vaccinations, particularly before the new school year begins.

“Community Care Plan is delighted to participate in such a collaborative effort with Broward Health and Memorial Healthcare System and continue to educate the public about the importance of vaccines,” said Jessica Lerner, President & CEO of Community Care Plan.

Community Care Plan Earns Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)

Community Care Plan Earns Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)

Community Care Plan (CCP), the health plan with a heart, is pleased to announce that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded an accreditation status of Accredited for service and clinical quality to CCP’s Medicaid Plan. The Accreditation, awarded in December 2018, will be valid for three years.

The NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators, and consumers can use to assess health plans.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded an accreditation status of Accredited by NCQA for our Medicaid Plan,” said Jessica Lerner, Community Care Plan’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We take great pride in providing the highest quality of care and service to our members, and are proud that CCP’s processes and procedures were recognized by NCQA during our first attempt at accreditation.”

NCQA Health Plan Accreditation surveys include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluation of over 60 standards and selected HEDIS® measures. A team of physicians and health plan experts conduct accreditation surveys. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team’s findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance of the plan being evaluated to NCQA’s standards.
